This photo was actually a postcard, and on the back of the postcard was written, "Leland is still afraid of strangers." The family left Michigan shortly after James Leland Stewart was born and went to Brown, Alabama to farm. They were there only a short time before moving to Memphis, Tennessee. |

| James Leland Stewart In his World War II uniform. From Betty Stewart Feibig, "My dad was a Staff Sgt. who served under Patton and was also in the famed Calvary unit - the F troop! He was in combat zones in India, Burma, Panama. He did not talk much about his experiences but he ran away from home at 16 to join the army and was mustered out after the war ended. |
